NOTABLE WOMAN OF THE DAYfriday videoHappy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!
Happy Leap Day 20242024 is a leap year, meaning Thursday, Feb. 29 is a once-in-every-four-year event. Since leap years typically happen every four years (although there are some exceptions), our last leap days were in 2020 and 2016, and the next leap year will happen in 2028. And since this is a day that doesn't come around often, people are celebrating in different ways, with businesses offering special deals in commemoration and others finally celebrating their Feb. 29 birthday. TODAY'S NOTABLE FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**Be Responsible **Be Respectful **Be Safe **Be a Positive Contributor ** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Read Across America Day is Saturday which is Theodore Geisel's (also known as Dr. Seuss) birthday. The National Education Association launched Read Across America in 1998 as a year-round program to celebrate reading. Given Dr. Seuss’ impact on the reading world, his birthday (March 2) was declared Read Across America Day. Tomorrow is a day to honor Dr. Seuss's memory by dressing up as a character from a book written by Dr. Seuss. The class that has the most students dressed up will receive a special story and visit. If there is a tie then there will be 2 special visits. (Mrs. G has instructions on how to make a Cat in the Hat hat in the library). Drop by the library and pick up a Wacky Word search that has many of the unusual words Dr. Seuss created for his stories. Just for fun! An interesting fact about Dr. Seuss ~ A friend bet him that he couldn't write a book using 50 words, and that’s how “Green Eggs and Ham” came to be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MESA Club: Today in Rm. 11 at lunch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Library Lover's Month! Blind date with a book: Last day to check out a book wrapped in brown, red, or white paper, take it home and unwrap it and enjoy reading it. Black History Month Scavenger Hunt: The bulletin board across from the library has a display of notables that are on the game board. Last day to pick up a game board. Answer the questions and return it to me for a prize. Your game board is your entry into a gift card drawing at the end of the month. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TODAY'S NOTABLE FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
