Virtual Poetry Readings At lunch all week! Come hear Amanda Gorman, Shel Silverstein, Robert Frost, Magnetic Poetry At lunch. What's that you say? What's magnetic poetry? Well it's: individual words—often related to a particular theme or topic—printed on small magnets which can be creatively arranged into poetry on a metal surface. Here's what you do ~ come in and ask for a kit, sit at a table and create! It's that easy. Mrs. G will take pictures of you (or not if you prefer) and your poem to share. Poem in Your Pocket Day April 28th Every April, on Poem in Your Pocket Day, people celebrate by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day at schools, bookstores, libraries, parks, workplaces, and on Twitter using the hashtag #pocketpoem. Poem in Your Pocket Day was started in 2002 in New York City as part of the city’s National Poetry Month celebration. Then in 2008, the Academy of American Poets made the initiative national, encouraging individuals across the country to join in. We'll be sharing our pocket poems on Thursday for Poem in Your Pocket day. Students and staff will share their poems with each other all day. Ask someone to share their poem and they will share theirs with you. Poetry Scavenger Hunt At lunch all week in the library. Here's what you do ~
